Safe Food Provision

In Australia, there are legal acts that define the responsibilities of people, businesses and organisations who sell food. Even if you sell food at heavily discounted rates, your food relief service must abide by the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (The Food Act).

Organisations that provide food free-of-charge are exempt from many provisions of The Food Act, but they still need to have a good understanding of their legal and ethical obligations and wider sector standards in order to provide the service in a safe and appropriate manner.
