The Gascoyne Junction Community Resource Centre has been serving the Gascoyne Junction community for over ten years. Operated by the Shire, the CRC acts as the hub for the local community through the services provided. As the postal agency, residents visit twice a week for their mail collection and gather to have a chat, grab a book or ask a technical question or two. The monthly Gassy Gossip is produced, published and distributed across the 57809 square kilometre shire sharing council updates, news, community service announcements, school news, recipes and a puzzle or two for fun. In October 2022 the CRC saw the return of a monthly GP clinic after an absence of over five years with a nursing clinic held on alternate fortnights each month. In between the CRC is home to a community RFDS chest and provides first aid support with the assistance of the 24/7 RFDS team. The CRC is also a fully accredited Visitor Information Centre welcoming visitors to the 2023 Keep Australia Beautiful National Tidy Town Sustainable Community and our ancient landscapes of Kennedy Range and Mount Augustus National Parks. Visitors can enjoy a free walking tour of town offered each afternoon or purchase a souvenir to remind them of their stay. The CRC and its staff also play an integral role in community events in Gascoyne Junction and the Upper Gascoyne. From art and craft afternoons with local kids, a monthly Youth Group, fun runs, first aid courses, digital literacy training and movie nights, the CRC also coordinates larger events including Bogan Bingo, Music Concerts and the annual Community Christmas Party. We strive to engage with our local community to ensure we are delivering services that our residents both want and need.
